Vanessa Gauthier

Vanessa Gauthier joined LK Law in 2010 and is an associate lawyer practicing in the firm’s Vancouver office. Her main area of practice is insurance litigation, with an emphasis on motor vehicle accidents, personal injury and occupier’s liability. Vanessa also has an interest in life and disability insurance litigation.

Prior to joining LK Law, Vanessa practiced law in Australia from 2005 to 2009 with a large national firm where she specialized in insurance litigation, including general liability, occupier’s liability, professional indemnity, product liability and dust diseases. She also represented employers in the defence of workplace accidents and the management of workers’ compensation claims, particularly in the mining, transportation, manufacturing and retail sectors. Vanessa has regularly appeared before Courts and administrative tribunals.

Previous to her Australia experience, Vanessa practiced in a broad range of practice areas including insurance litigation, personal injury, wills and estates, residential real estate and family law in Newfoundland and Labrador. From 2003 to 2005, she was legal counsel for that province’s Workplace Health Safety and Commission.

Vanessa was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, obtained her Bachelor of Arts from St Francis Xavier University in 1991 and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1994. Upon completion of her law degree, she articled and practiced with a mid-sized firm in St John’s, representing clients in personal injury cases, wills and estate, family law and other areas of civil litigation. She and her husband have two children and her outside interests include running and cycling, activities she says her new home of Vancouver makes easy to enjoy.
