Puneet Khaira

Puneet Khaira is an associate lawyer in LK Law’s Langley office, practicing in the area of general civil litigation and family law.

With an engineering degree in hand, Puneet received her Juris Doctor from University of Toronto in 2008. While at law school she was a leader in the Family Law Project, a student initiative run by the Pro Bono Students of Canada. She ran the Family Law Project at the Brampton, North York and Jarvis Courthouses, with a focus on assisting unrepresented litigants through their family disputes. During her studies, she also found time to volunteer to help develop youth programs to assist new immigrants, particularly women.

Puneet was admitted to the Ontario bar in 2009 after finishing her articles at a Toronto firm. She moved to the Fraser Valley and was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2009.

Puneet practices in the field of family law based in LK Law’s Langley office, representing clients in contested family matters in BC Supreme Court and Provincial Court. She is engaged in claims arising from divorce law, child custody and access law, mobility, child support law, spousal support, and Property Division. Her passion for litigation also finds her involved in representing clients in motor vehicle accidents (as drivers, passengers and pedestrians), slip and fall incidents, and civil assaults.

Ms. Khaira’s practice as a Langley lawyer also includes federal court judicial review (immigration law), obtaining committeeship orders for adult representation, wrongful dismissal cases, contract and property disputes, expropriations and landlord-tenant disputes. Puneet has also assisted senior counsel with complex family, estate litigation and foreclosure matters at all levels of Court in BC.

Her focus at all times is to understand the client’s needs and based on the involved factual matrix, to help clients achieve their desired results in the most cost-efficient manner. Sometimes litigation is not suitable for everything that is at stake for the parties, and in that situation Ms. Khaira’s focus is to effectively negotiate a settlement and/or use other dispute resolution mechanisms.

Ms. Khaira’s fluency in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu is a special asset at LK Law, allowing her to effectively communicate with the unique needs of her clients who speak those languages.

When not at work, Puneet likes to paint, travel, watch movies and spend time with family and friends.
