Chris Hope

Associate - Vancouver Offices

Chris Hope joined LK Law in 2003 and is an associate lawyer in our Vancouver office. His main area of practice is insurance litigation. He also has experience in employment, administrative, criminal and general litigation matters.

Born and raised in northern British Columbia, Chris attended the University of Victoria where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English in 1995, and a Juris Doctor degree in 1998. He was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1999.

Chris appears as counsel in all levels of court in British Columbia. He has handled a large caseload of insurance litigation matters, including frequent appearances in B.C. Supreme Court and B.C. Provincial Court and occasionally in the B.C. Court of Appeal. Mr. Hope has also acted on matters involving commercial disputes and transactions, administrative law, and contracts, among other practice areas.

An accomplished legal communicator as well as Vancouver lawyer, Chris has contributed as a speaker and author to seminars for the Continuing Legal Education Society, the Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, and the annual Lindsay Kenney Insurance Seminar. He has also written articles for the Lawyer’s Weekly, Insurancewest magazine and CDL’s Nonsuit newsletter.

Chris Hope has volunteered for community groups including the  Access Pro Bono Society of BC;  the UBC Faculty of Law; the Canadian Bar Association; and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.  He was a driver for the Canadian Olympic Team during the 2010 Olympics and was a torch bearer for the 2010 Paralympics.

In December 2008 Chris was appointed by the B.C. cabinet as a member of the Property Assessment Appeal Board. He was reappointed for a second term in December 2010. He has also received a ministerial appointment to the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal in June 2010.
