Andrea Cowie
Senior Paralegal
In 1988 I took a year off from my studies at Simon Fraser University to decide whether or not I wanted to change my major to geography. I started working at Lindsay Kenney in its accounting department in May after classes had ended, and continued to work here in the accounting department and office services until I finished my BA in Geography in 1991.
At that time LK Law was creating two floating positions for junior secretaries, one in litigation and one in corporate commercial. I was given a choice between the two and happily accepted the corporate commercial position. I have had the opportunity to advance from a junior secretarial position to a residential conveyancing position and, finally, to a senior paralegal position. My work primarily includes secured lending and commercial real estate. I have taken a few courses over the years, and the lawyers and assistants I’ve worked with here are the best mentors I could have asked for.
While advancement opportunities have incented me to stay at LK Law, it is the people here who have made all the difference for me. I wouldn’t work in an environment which I didn’t enjoy the people and the work. I work with a fantastic group, not only in my department but throughout the firm. The lawyers I work with are supportive, patient, knowledgeable—and fun. Whether you are dealing with office services, accounting or assistants in other departments the support staff are phenomenal. Lindsay Kenney LLP is a firm that offers challenging work, great support, flexibility, support for charities and fun.
